Welcome one and all to Artistic Enquiries, the successor to the now defunct wiki Breakin' the Block!. I'm Issy, aka [Nocturnaliss], your guide for the day, here to make your trip down artistic lanes more enjoyable. Don't forget to keep your hands and arms inside of the carpet!

Point of this wiki:

Like its parent, Artistic Enquiries is all about 'Making a Request, Taking a Request, Fulfilling a Request'. Whether you are an artist yourself in search of inspiration, or a non-artist in search of someone to create in your stead, this wiki is for you.

Remember that art doesn't limit itself to drawings. Artistic creations such as photographs, poetry or fractals, to name but a few, fall into the Art category as well.

So you are a Non-Artist ?

Then it means you're in search of an Artist who would be willing to take your Request, and Fulfill it. Go no further! The Artists are here to grant you your wish.

Go to Artistic Enquiries - Requests to be Taken and follow the instructions there. Do keep in mind that Artists are living beings as well, and that it may take some time for them to get to your Request if life does get in the way. Be courteous and respectful, And the same courtesy will be extended to you.

So you are an Artist ?

Then it means you're here because you've got spare time and brainpower to vulunteer, and here to pick up some inspiration on your way - or perhaps you are in search of an Artist yourself, for whichever reason. You've come to the right place.

Go to Artistic Enquiries - Requests to be Taken and follow the necessary instructions there. Please refrain from Taking Requests you are not entirely certain you will be able to Fulfill.

When all is done and over with...

... then it is time to say goodbye for a while, until the next time a need arises - whether it be a need to Make a new Request, or a need to find some inspiration again by Taking a Request.

Whichever the case, don't be a stranger! This wiki cannot exist without your participation, be you Requester or Requestee ^___^

2008-03-05 [iippo]: Cool wiki! *lurks*

2008-03-05 [windowframe]: *is also lurking*

2008-03-05 [Nocturnaliss]: Thank you ^_^ I hope it'll be a fun one, too.

2008-03-05 [NOOOPE]: Sweet! I totally would if I wasn't such a lazy ass.

2008-03-05 [Nocturnaliss]: Haha XD I understand that. Hey, I'm already happy you came by to check it out X3

2008-03-06 [iippo]: M!, you can always make a request. :3

2008-03-06 [Paul Doyle]: Howdy :)

2008-03-06 [windowframe]: *thinks you should nominate for Featured Wiki. <.<;

2008-03-07 [Rising Death Dragon]: What does lurk mean?

2008-03-07 [windowframe]: "lie in wait, lie in ambush, behave in a sneaky and secretive manner" // "In Internet culture, a lurker is a person who reads discussions on a message board, newsgroup, chatroom, file sharing or other interactive system, but rarely participates. "

Also, to loiter, or skulk.

2008-03-07 [Rising Death Dragon]: oh ok

2008-03-07 [Rising Death Dragon]: *lurks also*

2008-03-07 [Nocturnaliss]: Hey Paul, glad you passed by ^_^ and thank you very much for your appreciation, Silverfire. Can't say that wouldn't be neat (and help promote the wiki), but I'd love even better for a few requests to roll in so things can start getting lively. I know I wouldn't mind tackling a request myself, if anything strikes my fancy <<

2008-03-07 [windowframe]: Hmm, i'll advertise in my diary for you. :)

2008-03-07 [iippo]: Hmm, I think I'll post a request then. :) Now, to think of something to request...

2008-03-07 [Nocturnaliss]: Oh that's so great! Thanks bunches <3

2008-03-08 [Hendercrazy]: Watching the wiki. ;)

2008-03-08 [Nocturnaliss]: Why thank you :3 <3

2008-03-25 [Nocturnaliss]: A question to all watchers: I've been thinking of trying to make things more interesting (and thus, hopefully, more lively XD) by, every 10 or 15 fulfilled requests, awarding a gift to the artist most deserving - who made the coolest piece of art, or most original, etc. I think of deciding this by poll-voting. What do you think ?

2008-03-25 [Duke Devlin]: Well that sounds really interesting to me. :)

2008-03-25 [iippo]: Agreed, it sounds good. :) Especially if it's a real gift that would be mailed to the person (international mail is so much fun!) with the possibility of opting out of the actual present if the artist doesn't want to give their adress.

2008-03-26 [Nocturnaliss]: Yes, it would be an actual mailed gift. And definitely international, as I live in Belgium XD (the country, not the US city << XD). And, there'd indeed be the possibility to opt out of the gift if you don't want to give out your address... but then, ought the gift to go unawarded, or for a new poll to be set up ?

2008-03-26 [Duke Devlin]: I think an alternative could be given, like a digital piece of art - i.e something scanned, or an actual piece made for the 'winner'. :)

2008-03-27 [Nocturnaliss]: That's a good idea. I'll have to create a new wiki page for this all.

2008-03-28 [Duke Devlin]: :)

2008-04-03 [windowframe]: I'm posting a link to Silvie's Free Art here, since it's related to this in a way - it's a chance for someone to win some free art by helping support the Featured Wiki.

As to the artists' prize, I think that's a neato idea. :) If the person doesn't want to give their actual address you could always donate to Elftown in their name. :)

2008-04-04 [Nocturnaliss]: That's a very good idea, giving some of your beautiful art so to help promote wikis... I hope more people will join it ^_^

Thanks... and, yeah, an Elftown donation in their name could be feasible, too, and I do like the idea. Thanks for sharing :3

2008-07-20 [Ramirez]: This place is very interesting, but I'm the worst person at fulfilling art requests. DX Though I'd love to keep an eye on this place to see others work. =D And maybe one day when I'm not so lazy I can invest my time in an art request. XD

2008-07-20 [Lite]: Neat idea! I'd love to join in!

2008-07-21 [Nocturnaliss]: Lurkers are welcome, [Ramirez] X3 and hey, you can always put in a Request yourself if you feel like it. You can do what you want XD

[Lite], you're more than welcome to join in :D (and I saw you already did, which is awesome XD)

2008-07-21 [Ramirez]: Okies, thanks ^^

2008-07-24 [Azuri]: New here so I thought I'd say hello on the main page and now I'm off to look about ^_^

2008-07-24 [Nocturnaliss]: Aha, new blood! Wonderful :D make yourself at home.

2009-02-19 [Nocturnaliss]: Woo, 22 watchers o.o I thought I'd leave a little message to everybody watching, as the last comment dates back to July of last year XD sorry I haven't been able to get this Wiki really going. I'd set myself the goal to roam Elftown and promote Artistic Enquiries to at least a couple of people a week, but that never really happened. Which is a shame, because I do like my Wiki XD I just hope to be able to get this baby fired up sometime soon. My only idea is to have some sort of fun contest for the artists amidst you, but I wouldn't know what to give as reward (gotta be something other than the Hall of Fame reward). Any ideas, anyone ?

2009-02-19 [Skydancer]: A plate of cookies or a nice cinnamon bun? :) Wish you lots of luck in getting it on a roll.

2009-02-19 [Nocturnaliss]: Cookies sounds delicious right now o.o if I were anything of a cook, that'd actually be a totally fun reward to give out: cookie giftbox. But alas XD although, considering I imagine most people are non-Belgians and maybe even non-Europeans, I wonder if offering some Belgian chocolate as a reward might interest anyone. Cuz, you know... Belgian chocolate is awesome << XD.

(and thank you for the luck-wishing. <3 XD)

2009-02-19 [Skydancer]: OOOh. Chocolate. Though shipping it all over the world would be an issue. :D

2009-02-19 [Nocturnaliss]: Oh, I don't mind that. I've been sending chocolate to the US for years now, so I know how to abuse the postal system and get the most out of my sendings << XD (because Belgian shipping fees are freaking insane). I'm thinking this could actually be a lot of fun, and I already have a huge list of available specialty chocolate typed up... I think I could fit in a nice reward for the winner, and a smaller one for the runner-up - that is, if enough people'd be interested and would enter the contest! XD

2009-02-19 [Skydancer]: Hmmmm. Adds to list of contests keep an eye on. :)

2009-02-19 [Nocturnaliss]: Hehehe I guess that means I already have a participant, huh ? XD

2009-02-19 [Skydancer]: Quite likely, depending on the limitations of the contest. :)

2009-02-19 [Nocturnaliss]: That I don't know yet. I'd like to make it as broad (and fun) as possible so that everybody can join. You know, not limit it to drawn art alone, but have poetry, photography, etc.... big artistic melting pot. Right now, I'm thinking the best way to do so, is to use the reward as the contest theme in some way. Just have to figure out how to do so and make it joinable for every sort of artform.

2009-02-19 [Skydancer]: Nods, I have thought about having a faery contest for photomanipulation as thats often not allowed in the contests, and have the prize be a commission from me. Grins, only thing is, a lot of the possible artists are actually better at it than I am. :D

2009-02-19 [Nocturnaliss]: Well, I don't think it's because you see others as more talented than you, that they'd necesarily not be interested in a commission from you. I've looked at your pictures and thought they were really, really cool... they're yours and unique. So, I'd say, don't sell yourself short, and go ahead with that contest.

2009-02-19 [Skydancer]: Aww, well thanks for that. Its nice to do collaborations with fellow artists here to create the Faery sets.

2009-02-20 [Nocturnaliss]: I imagine it must be ^^ collaborations often yield awesome results.

2009-03-03 [Nocturnaliss]: Again a shout-out to the 21 people watching this Wiki: there's a contest planned, but I'd like to know there'd be people around to join in before I start it. So... please leave a comment or something!

2009-03-11 [windowframe]: Featured Wiki <img:44166_1164145221.gif>

2009-03-12 [The Last Dragoon]: congrats ^>^

2009-03-13 [Nocturnaliss]: Thank you ^^ I just noticed it thanks to the badge on my house I'd never seen before XD. Thank you for pushing me to do it, [windowframe] <3 now let's hope it brings more people to us :D

2009-03-25 [Kuramasgirl]: What an awesome idea. :o
When I get the chance, I'll have to be fulfilling some of those requests up there, I think. xD This sounds like fun!

2009-03-25 [Nocturnaliss]: Glad to have you on board ^^

2010-05-17 [Eyonic]: :O dis is lookin quite fun, I must explore more!

2010-05-18 [Nocturnaliss]: Please do!
